William Elm

William Elm is an independent accordionist, avant-composer, and instrumentalist powerhouse. He utilises folk/keyboard instruments in styles that break stereotype to create intricate and compelling post-minimalist music.

Elm's composing career has seen him release debut album Metamorphica (2016) as well as 5 EPs, including upcoming Spectrum Two to be released February 2018. He has also composed music for two Melbourne independent films (Highly Recommended; Raymond Taylor). Recently William performed a Pauline Oliveros accordion tribute, and was part of 2016’s Melbourne Fringe with Sustenance – an 8 hour piano improvisation in collaboration with Arts Centre Melbourne, and Cocoon – a queer chamber suite.

Alongside composing, William is also an accomplished accompanist. Since 2010 he has performed with many cabaret stars such as Amanda Palmer, Brendan Maclean, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Jane Austen Argument, Mikelangelo, and Mama Alto. Over the years he’s been in many bands including Dearly Wish, The Great Imposter, and currently plays keys and accordion in Wilder Genes.

William is also currently completing a Bachelor of Music at Victoria University.
